Paddle the Gem of South County
from our NARROW RIVER OUTPOST!
let our courteous, helpful, and knowledgeable staff
launch you on your next adventure!
If you’re just looking to paddle for a couple hours or more from the convenience of a waterfront location, our Narrow River Outpost is the answer. We are a low-key, laid back, friendly and locally-owned business of over 30 years at this beautiful location on the doorstep of the John H. Chafee National Wildlife Refuge. The Pettaquamscutt River, commonly known as Narrow River, is a tidal inlet comprised of a 500 plus acre cove and wildlife refuge, a fjord-like lake, a brackish pond, and two freshwater ponds at the head of the watershed. It empties through the “narrows” into the Atlantic at the northern end of Narragansett Beach. This unique and diverse waterway offers something for all levels of paddlers and outdoor enthusiasts.

Can I launch my own kayak, canoe or paddle board?
Due to limited parking and liability, you can only launch your own from our business when you have others in your party renting from us. If you have other participants in your group renting from us, we offer one free launch per kayak, canoe or paddle board rented (Coast Guard approved PFD required). Each additional launch is $5. Our waiver form must be completed and signed by each participant. Due to limited parking and liability, we do not offer paid launches from the property when not renting equipment from us. There are a limited number of spots available across the street in designated areas and at other public launches on the river for those wishing to launch their own vessels but not renting equipment from NRK.
Narrow River Resources
All participants must complete and sign a waiver release form. Participants under the age of 18 must have the signed consent of a Parent or Legal Guardian and be accompanied by an adult on the water. One form is required for each participant. If you would like, you can print and complete your waivers ahead of time and give them to us when we set you up with your gear! We’ll also have forms available at our outpost that you can complete upon arrival.
